"The 2004 Fino en Rama is the first ever made vintage Fino. It was aged for two years in 500-liter American oak barrels. This non-fortified, unfiltered Sherry is loaded with flor (the yeast that forms a film on the surface of sherry during fermentation) and reveals aromas of roasted nuts and sea salt. Round and full-flavored on the palate, this lengthy effort is a superb example of its type.

Alvear was established in 1729 by Don Diego de Alvear and has remained under family control ever since."

About Montilla-Moriles: The Montilla-Moriles wine region is situated in the province of Córdoba and produces mainly sweet dessert wines using similar techniques to those used for the production of Sherry, that is, by crianza bajo velo de flor (which involves allowing a "veil" of flor yeasts to form on the surface of the must in the casks) and por el sistema de criaderas y soleras (which refers to the process of aging the wine in soleras). Because this appellation is not as well known as those that produce Sherry, it is an excellent value.
